Our strategy in facilitation and sharing resources
As facilitators and teachers of Permaculture design and community/ leadership development & empowerment, we embody and apply the philosophy and principles of Permaculture in our methodology and practice. By utilizing the core model of Permaculture design in our course development, we strive to integrate this fundamental pattern of natural systems into the learning process.
EcoLOGICAL Thinking!
Permaculture offers a new perspectives with which to see the world and empowers our function in that dynamic. Throughout the course, we strive to fulfill our overarching ethical intentions – Earth Care, People Care and Share of Surplus. Beyond our focus on environmental regeneration, we emphasize community building and social justice as key components of the Permaculture vision. Throughout the courses we encourage feedback loops with self-reflection and evaluation, recognizing this transformative process occurring in all of us, and our need to create resilient living systems in the land, as well as within ourselves.
Community Development Excercises
As “facilitators,” we intend to break the barrier between “student” and “teacher” used in conventional education systems, opening our eyes to the mutual learning opportunities provided by the course, for all participants. The role of a “facilitator” is one who guides the learning process, using the framework of the curriculum, while empowering the students in their accumulation of knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. We incorporate diverse teaching methods – lecture with visuals, powerpoint slideshows, interactive games and presentations, films and group hands-on projects – to satisfy all learning styles of our students and create a dynamic community experience. Through this diversity students engage learning in various ways which enriches this transformative and fun experience.

Shared Resources
We believe in open source. This is a reflection of the ecological “Cooperation not competition” We believe in sharing all of our materials, documents, films, etc, so that people can continue to pass this information on or refine and further it. At the end of each PDC course, students will receive a DVD of material regarding Permaculture, Holistic Management, and Keyline Design plus many other things along with photos from the course. However if you bring an external hard drive or your own laptop you can have access to our very extensive collections from many years! This information sharing practice extends the investment you are putting in for a course and allows reference and learning to continue for many years to come.
